Koei-Kan Karate Do

Koei-Kan Karate Do is a Japanese karate style founded by Eizo Onishi in 1952. In the Koei-Kan system the individual is stressed, and each Koei-Kan student is taught to strive for the highest degree of self-attainment. In Japanese, this philosophy is a blend of bun (obedience), shi (divergence), and shu (separation). Naturally, there is some uniformity during each stage of learning; however, after the fundamentals have been mastered, new methods are encouraged as they pertain to a student's particular needs. Koei-kan teachings embrace the ethics of budo: humility, truth, self-discipline, self-reliance, peace, respect, unselfishness, honor, and courage.

Training

Koei- Kan is a diversified art that incorporates the basic kicking, punching, and striking techniques, as well as  grappling, reverse joint techniques, body movements, throwing, ground combat and defense against weapons and multiple attackers.  Koei Kan Karate's training methods and techniques prepare students for situations they could encounter on the street. The Academy of Koei-Kan Karate Do offers a unique system designed to enhance the abilities in each student. A combination of individualized instruction and group training are implemented in all programs.  Individualized instruction with a certificed black belt instructor allows each student to learn and progress at his/her own rate and ensures that the student has a thorough understanding of the techniques being learned. The group training offered at the Academy implements a variety of conditioning drills, strength training, grappling, sparring, focus pad training and heavy bag training .  This training helps students to achieve power, speed, and  coordination, as well as the highest level of fitness.
